My Journey Through Grief
By Mehr Syed | Grief Coach | Founder of Grief Talk
The day my husband died, my entire world shifted.
Time stopped. Everything around me blurred. In one instant, I became a widow, unsure of how to breathe through the grief, let alone live again.
Hello, I’m Mehr, a grief coach, and this is the first of many heartfelt entries I’ll be sharing through Grief Talk https://www.youtube.com/@Grief-Talk — a space I’ve created for those who have lost a partner and are navigating the difficult, often lonely path of grief.
Grief is a deeply personal journey. When I lost my husband, I wasn’t just mourning him—I was mourning the life we had built, the future we had imagined, and the person I was with him by my side. I felt alone, vulnerable, and shattered to the core.
In those early days, I desperately searched for comfort and understanding. I joined online widow support groups, but none were rooted in my own cultural context or located nearby. That’s when I realized—there’s a gap. Widows, especially younger ones, need a safe, supportive community where their stories are heard, their grief acknowledged, and their growth nurtured.
That’s why I became a certified grief coach and launched this space—not just to tell my story, but to hold space for your story too.
At Grief Talk, I speak openly about:
- The shock and silence of sudden loss
- Rediscovering who you are without your partner
- The hidden emotional and financial toll of widowhood
- Raising children as a single parent
- Finding purpose and connection after loss
This platform is especially close to my heart because it supports younger widows—a group whose struggles are often invisible. But everyone is welcome here, regardless of age or stage in their grief.
I believe that healing begins when we feel seen and supported. Through this blog and my Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/thegriefcircle
I hope to create a community focused not just on grief, but also on growth, resilience, and rediscovering joy.
This journey isn’t easy. But you are not alone.
Let’s walk this path together—from loss to lessons.
With compassion,Mehr
